Combinatorial Materials Design Approach to Investigate Adhesion Layer Chemistry for Optimal Interfacial Adhesion Strength

چکیده
A combinatorial material adhesion study was used to optimize the composition of an promoting layer for a nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) coating on silicon. Three different metals, namely W, Cr, and Ta, were selected fabricate arrays co-sputtered binary alloy films, with patches seven different, distinct compositions each combination, single element reference films Si wafer (three wafers in total; W–Cr, Cr–Ta, Ta–W). Scratch testing determine critical failure load practical work NCD coatings as function chemistry. All tested samples eventually exhibit delamination coating, buckles radiating perpendicularly away from scratch track. Application any presented layers yields increase compared Si. While influence maximum buckle length is less pronounced, shorter are obtained pure W Cr–Ta layers. As general rule, addition showed 75% improvement measured energies without layer, specific alloys showing up 125% calculated adhesion.

Roughness Model for Adhesion Testing of Pharmaceutical Coating Materials
Objective Roughness is the main parameter in interlocking bonding mechanism. Yet there is no model designed to evaluate the effect of surface roughness on adhesion of coating materials in pharmaceutical sciences. Materials and Methods In this study polymethyl metacrylate spherical beads with different sizes were poured into 10 mm mold, then it was pressed by hand screw and finally heated to 141...

uncertainty in the financial market will be driven by underlying brownian motions, while the assets are assumed to be general stochastic processes adapted to the filtration of the brownian motions. the goal of this study is to calculate the accumulated wealth in order to optimize the expected terminal value using a suitable utility function. this thesis introduced the lim-wong’s benchmark fun...

Model substrates that present peptide and carbohydrate ligands are becoming important mechanistic tools in cell biology. This review surveys the development of selfassembled monolayers of alkanethiolates on gold as a model substrate for studies of cell adhesion. The review begins with a background that illustrates the opportunity for using tailored substrates in biology and then addresses the c...
متن کاملInterfacial propulsion by directional adhesion
The rough integument of water-walking arthropods is well known to be responsible for their water-repellency [1, 2, 3, 4]; however, water-repellent surfaces generally experience reduced traction at an air-water interface [5, 6, 7, 8]. A conundrum then arises as to how such creatures generate significant propulsive forces while retaining their water-repellency. We here demonstrate through a serie...
متن کاملEffect of Interfacial Slippage on Viscoelastic Adhesion
Peeling of a viscoelastic adhesive from a solid substrate poses a wonderful problem of polymer flow. When the adhesive is peeled, it is also stretched in a direction normal to the substrate. The concomitant Poisson contraction creates a pressure gradient and thus induces a shear flow in the adhesive close to the delamination front. Earlier it was pointed out that the strength of viscoelastic ad...
